Swimming Pool Waiver & Release of Liability Form

WARNING OF RISK

Activities involving the use of a swimming pool carry significant risk of sustaining injuries from slippery surfaces, foreign objects in the pool, and other general hazards associated with swimming.These hazards carry with them the risk of injury up to and including death by drowning.Proper attire, swimming ability, and safe behavior are required.You are responsible for understanding your own capabilities and limitations with respect to swimming. 

RELEASE FROM LIABILITY 

In consideration for my use of the Wendell Swim Club Association, INC (WSC) pool facilities, I, on behalf of myself, my family, personal representatives, heirs, and/orassigns, hereby forever release and covenant not to sue the WSC, its members of the Board of Directors, officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers, acting officially or otherwise (“WSC Parties”), from and against any present or future claims, losses, liabilities, claims, damages, judgments, and costs of any kind which arise out of or in any way are connected with my use of the WSC pool facilities by myself or by any minor child(ren)
of which I am the parent or guardian, including but not limited to any claims related to exposure to or infection with COVID-19. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the WSC Parties for any and all claims arising from my use of the pool facilities, including any negligence of myself or household members, any injury, illness or death, or any COVID-19 related health issue or exposure.

MEDICAL TREATMENT CONSENT

In case of a medical or surgical emergency, I hereby give permission to any medical personnel selected by pool staff to administer treatment.I will assume full responsibility for any such action, including payment of all costs.

AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS/VIDEOS

I hereby agree that any pictures or videos of me or, if applicable, my child(ren) may be used for pool training, advertising, or promotion without any compensation to me or my child(ren).

RISK OF INJURY/ILLNESS

I understand that the use of the pool and equipment may pose risks to me or my child(ren), including the risk of serious injury, disability, illness, or death.

The "Big Three" Rules
Safety First: We keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
Listen & Follow: We follow counselor instructions the first time they are given.
Stay with the Group: No camper leaves a designated area without a "buddy" and counselor permission.

🏊 At the Pool
The "Walk" Rule: Absolutely no running on the pool deck.
Whistle Blows: When the lifeguard blows the whistle, everyone stops, looks, and listens immediately.
Deep End Bounds: You must pass the "Swim Test" before entering water where you cannot stand.
Equipment: No pool noodles or toys used as "weapons."

🎾 At the Tennis Courts
Equipment Care: Racquets, bats, etc. stay in hand; we don't throw them or drag them on the court. All equipment is brought back to the camp room after use.
Space Awareness: Stay in your "bubble" so nobody gets hit by a swinging racquet.
The Net: We never lean on, jump over, or pull the tennis nets.

🛝 On the Playground
No climbing on top of the play structure
Stay in the playground area unless directed otherwise by a counselor
Take turns on the equipment

🤝 Respect & Kindness
Inclusive Play: We don't say "you can't play." We find a way to include everyone.
Words Matter: We use kind words. Name-calling or teasing will not be tolerated.
Property: Respect the facility. If you didn't bring it, ask before you touch it.

🧼 The "Leave No Trace" Policy
Clean Up: Every camper is responsible for their own lunch trash and gear.
Locker Room/Restrooms: We keep these areas clean and respect the privacy of others.

⚖️ How We Handle Mistakes
Verbal Warning: A quick chat about what went wrong.
Cool Down: A 5–10 minute break from the activity (Tennis, Pool, etc.).
Leadership Chat: A meeting with the Camp Director.
Home Connection: A phone call to parents if the behavior continues.
